‘Twas the 4th December and all through central London Santas were running through the streets fundraising for charity.
Last week, Team Spark2Life put on their Santa hats and trotted down to central London to fundraise for the vital work we do with young people here at Spark2Life.
We began our journey as a team travelling to central London by tube (already in our Santa ‘fits) and although we may have received a few laughs from onlookers, that didn’t stop us in our quest to take on the Santa In The City 4K run in Paternoster Square.
When we arrived at St Pauls, we felt much more at home amongst so many other Santa fun runners and were inspired to see just how many people were braving the cold along with us and fundraising for their chosen charities.
While we were psyching ourselves up we also received a phone call letting us know that thanks to Net Church’s donation of £1000 we had exceeded our fundraising target! Giving us even more motivation to finish our race!
In our team we had dedicated runners and comfort-loving walkers, so we split up and made our way to the starting line.
The walkers were up first and started as they meant to carry on – slowly. There was lots of laughter, sight-seeing and good conversation, Beth one of Team Spark2Life’s walkers said:
“It was a really fun evening! It was nice to get dressed up with the team and have a good laugh while raising funds for the work we do with our young people. It was also really nice to get to know our supporters outside of Spark2Life and hear their stories and why they wanted to fundraise for us – I had a wonderful evening and would definitely do it again next year!”
As the walkers strolled along, they were quickly overtaken by the runners, some of whom completed the race in their personal best time! Emmanuel, one of Team Spark2Life’s runners said:
“The run was much longer than 4K! We ran almost 6K in total but it felt great to see the team come together and fundraise for Spark2Life. It was a proud moment at the finish line.”
We’re pleased to say all of Team Spark2Life made it to the finish line and are even more pleased to announce that, due to your donations, we surpassed our fundraising goal!
Well done to Team Spark2Life and thank you to everyone who donated, all contributions will further our impact in preventing harm and promoting life for young people.
