From Injury to Impact: Chris Runs 10K for Spark2Life

At Spark2Life we have been blessed to have supporters who champion our work and take time out of their busy schedules to volunteer their time and efforts to support us. We are always incredibly proud of our supporters and whenever we have the chance to champion their efforts, we make sure we do!

On a bitterly cold March morning, Christopher Reid one of our biggest supporters braved the winds and ran the Run Through UK 10K run to fundraise for us. Chris managed to complete the run even after a recent recovery from a physical injury in just 1:06! This was no small feat, and we felt privileged to witness his determination and strength to finish.

Completing a run with such a brilliant finishing time had our team members who went to support emotional and left feeling incredibly inspired by Chris’ strength of mind and body.

Chris has been a supporter of Spark2Life for a number of years and has even volunteered his time to support our work in a variety of ways. We asked him why he decided to fundraise for us,

“I did the 10K run for Spark2Life because I saw them as a charity close to my heart and the valuable work they are doing to help change ex-offenders who want to change their life around.”

As we have said, it was a very emotional day and when we asked how he felt at the finish line he said, “I felt proud when I completed it.” – a sentiment shared across our team!

We would like to thank Chris’ efforts, and he managed surpass his target and raised an impressive £929 for Spark2Life. But this wasn’t the end of Chris’ efforts. After completing the run, Chris shared the news with his church, once again championing our work and after hearing of his run and our work his church donated and additional £1000 to Spark2Life. So a massive thank you to Emmanuel Gateway Church also!

Chris is also an avid fundraiser of other charities and we look forward to keeping up with him and seeing what he does next!
