Community Mentoring

Become a Spark2Life Community Mentor.

Significant Influence

The Community Mentoring project promotes social cohesion by connecting young people with a diverse range of passionate volunteers from the community. Spark2Life Community Mentors are Volunteer Mentors that support young people in mainstream education as part of our prevention strategy and within the Youth Offending Service (YOS) as part of our intervention strategy.

All Spark2Life Community Mentors complete our Wholistic Mentoring Training which is an 8-week fully AQA accredited course that prepares those interested to mentor young people effectively. Each session is 2-2.5 hours long, for each module learners can achieve AQA Level 1 or AQA Level 3. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the principles of mentoring, techniques of mentoring, personality and learning styles, the importance of self-awareness and aspects of individual psychology.

The course is highly reflective and seeks to help participants understand themselves, highlighting a trauma informed approach which equips Community Mentors with the skills to support and understand our client group.

We aim to share an appreciation for the power and scope of positive mentoring, giving Community Mentors the skills to unlock the full potential of mentees.

"We can learn so much from organisations like Spark2life, now more than ever and to hear what you guys are doing really is inspiring.  I have so much respect for you.

Everyone who has delivered training over the last few days clearly has enormous passion and dedication to helping those in society who for whatever reason need that gentle guidance and support.

The work you are doing is Amazing! Thank you for taking the time to educate us in this area." - Crash Course attendee, January 2023
