Feedback from professionals

Enhanced Prevention

Our Enhanced Prevention Programmes work alongside professionals within the Criminal Justice System (CJS). We believe our young people receive the best support when their professional networks work cohesively to provide the best outcomes for them.

Here you will find some feedback from professionals within the CJS on the work that Spark2Life has carries out alongside them.

"I wanted to say thank you for the support you have been offering [young person]. I have just read a review report, and it highlights the impact these sessions have had on his emotional well-being and how [young person] values these sessions."

- Youth Offending Service Professional

"The Spark2Life Caseworker went above and beyond, as always, this week to support our young person during this difficult time (supporting in packing up his home, moving items, phone calls checking in etc). The professional network and I have seen a real positive change in the young person. The Spark2Life Caseworker's work with the young person is always target focused, and I believe that the mentoring work they have done with  the young person over the course of the year has been monumental to the progress they have made."

- Youth Offending Service Professional

"I would just like to highlight some of the positive work that the Spark2Life Caseworker has done with my young people. Notably his work with the young person as due to his complexes, he finds it hard to engage but has been consistently engaging with the caseworker, leading to some positive outcomes such as; accompanying him to Autism assessment, GP registry and other supports. I have had positive feedback from my other young persons in regard to their engagement with this Spark2Life Caseworker."

Early Prevention

Our Early Prevention Programmes work within schools and pupil referral units to deliver support to children and young people (11-17 years) who are at risk of exclusion or have experience of involvement in the criminal justice system. We deliver mentoring programmes, workshops and assembly sessions.

We have deleoped brilliant working relationships with the schools and PRUs, have a look at what they have said about working with us:

“Thank you so much for coming to Lammas and delivering the powerful session on stop and search to our students (and for an entire day)! WE always have been and continue to be extremely grateful for the support of Spark2Life.”

- Sarah Sawtell, Headteacher Lammas Secondary School
“At Lea Valley Academy, we have had the pleasure of working with Spark2Life for the summer term this year. At the time, we had very challenging groups of students in Year 9 and 10 and had exhausted a number of internal interventions. From the moment I met with Spark2Life I was reassured that they had the expert knowledge of our context and young people to be able to support us and our students. We liaised with our mentors with ease and they were always happy to accommodate changes in the school day or respond to arising needs. The students, their parents and pastoral teams all commented on how effective our Spark2Life Mentors were, and our only wish was that we had longer with them! We look forward to working with them in the future.”

- Patricia Cole-Burke, Assistant Headteacher,  Lea Valley Academy
"It has been a pleasure to work with you. The boys have said that they will miss you and your sessions which is clearly a sign that you have made a difference to them in such a short space of time."

- Dejann Armstrong, Wellbeing and SEMH Practitioner, Enfield Grammar
"The current mentors are having a positive impact due to the consistency that we now have with the mentors on site. They are able to see repeat student on a regular basis as well as see students who have come to our attention as needing mentoring. They are flexible in terms of if we feel a student needs a session they will accommodate this into their daily structure. Communication is good from both mentors when arriving on site, both check in and I try and give the the highlights from the week to help them have an understanding of the dynamics and situations which may play out in sessions and in school in general. Spark2Life has been proactive in mentoring at one of our other sites on a Tuesday afternoon which is beneficial for those young people, they have also attempted calls home to try and re engage students who are potentially school refusing."

- Paul Adams, Assistant Head Teacher, Mayesbrook PRU

Training & Advocacy

Through our Training & Advocacy, we work with parents/carers, professionals and volunteers to ensure that they are well equipped, so that young people can receive the support they need.

Have a look at what professionals have said about the training we have delivered:

"Great teacher, great mind and very glad to have taken this training. Open, kind and safe!"

- Trauma Awareness Training Attendee

"Very good teaching by Spark2Life especially when considering they did so in their second language.  Spark2Life Trainer brought positivity and humour to the units together with a very good understanding of the subject and good handling of our questions.  No areas for improvement."

- Wholistic Mentoring Training Attendee

"The distinction between trauma aware, trauma informed, and trauma trauma responsive was really interesting and a great takeaway"

- Trauma Awareness Training Attendee

“I just want to reiterate that I really enjoyed the training back in September in regard to stop and search with young people and use the advice you gave when I’m conducting stop and searches on my ward.”

- Police Officer who attended Police Recruit Training

"Training was pitched at the right level for me to be able to take away the learning and adapt it into continuing to mentor young people."
